Ernesto Hofmann
Laureato in fisica presso l'Università di Roma.
E' entrato in IBM nel 1968 nel Servizio di Calcolo Scientifico.
Nel 1973 e' diventato manager del Servizio di Supporto Tecnico del Centro di Calcolo dell'IBM di Roma.
Dal 1978, come sistemista senior, è stato responsabile tecnico per l'IBM di diversi centri di elaborazione dati di alcuni grandi istituti di credito e di assicurazione.
Dal 1981(per tre anni) è stato presso lo stabilimento di Montpellier dove l'IBM costruisce i suoi computer più grandi.
Nel 1986 è stato trasferito presso lo stabilimento di Corbei Essonenes dove vengono realizzati i chip di logica utilizzati dai computer IBM.
In ambedue le assegnazioni ha svolto il ruolo di interfaccia tecnica tra i clienti e i progettisti dello stabilimento.
Dal 1986 è stato diverse volte negli USA, dove la sua attività gli ha consentito di di approfondire sempre più l'evoluzione tecnologica oggi in atto nell'informatica.
Dal 1984 è Direttore Consulente per i Sistemi Complessi.
E' autore di numerose pubblicazioni sull'informatica, sia di carattere tecnico sia divulgative, nonché di svariati articoli e interviste anche per la stampa non specializzata.
Ernesto Hofmann has a Physics degree from the University of Rome.
He started with IBM in 1968 in the Scientific Calculus section.
In 1973 he became Manager of the Technical Support section of IBM's Calculus Center in Rome.
In 1978, as Senior systems player, he was IBM's chief technician for diverse data elaboration centers of some of the biggest credit and insurance institutions.
In 1981 he moved to IBM's French plant for three years in Montpellier, where IBM builds its biggest computers.
In 1986 he moved to Corbeil Essoness where IBM's micro-chip was developed.
In both of these assignments he carried out the role of liaising between clients and plant designers.
Since 1986 he has been to the States many times, where his role has allowed him to investigate today's technological evolution in information feats.
Since 1984 he has been Consulting Manager for Complex Systems.
He is the author of numerous publications on information, both technical and popular works, as well as author of various articles and reviews for the press.
